The Quabbin Regional School District participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP). The School Nutrition department is made up of a team of school nutrition professionals that are dedicated to our students. We offer a variety of meal choices with the goal in mind: To provide Kid-Friendly meals that meet or exceed the latest state and federal (USDA) requirements which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Our menus are based on the USDA meal patterns and food components. Schools must ensure that components meet age-specific caloric minimums and maximums, sodium and saturated fat restrictions and that, over the course of a week, certain colored vegetables must be offered. At least 80% of grains must be whole grain and the amount of meat or meat alternative should be

Students are encouraged to take all 5 components. (For breakfast, students must take 3 food items the size of the palm of a child’s hand or the size of a deck of cards (2 ounces). Milk must be nonfat or 1% and only nonfat milk can be flavored. All items are oven baked, we do not fry anything. Our schools do not have fryolators as this is against USDA regulations.

As required by the USDA, students must take at least 3 components as part of their lunch and one of those components must be a fruit or vegetable.
