The Oakham Center School is located just ‘up’ from town center on a grassy field property, complete with a ball field.  The updated facility features a cafetorium, media center, computer lab, outdoor play area, gymnasium and music room.

The Oakham Center School serves students in grades pre-kindergarten through grade 5 from Oakham and New Braintree. This reconfiguration maximizes the academic opportunity for these students with team teaching and more balanced class sizes, providing more social opportunities for the children and strengthened curriculum to meet the individual needs of the students.

The youth of Oakham and New Braintree participate in the Quabbin-area recreation leagues including soccer, basketball, baseball and softball.

Pictured above, Oakham’s original West Brick Schoolhouse was a one-room school house on Hardwick Turnpike Road. The historical society states it was probably built in 1827 yet was closed in 1920 due to low enrollment and high maintenance costs.  It is decorated annually during the holiday season.
