Why School Choice? What Quabbin Offers How to Apply
Applying for School Choice at Quabbin Regional School District
  • There is no application criteria and no child can be refused entry, except for disciplinary issues.
  • If there is room in the grade, all children, including special needs, are eligible for selection to a grade is based on available seats in the grade.
  • The selection process is free from any type of discrimination.
  • The Quabbin Regional School District uses a First Come, First Served selection method, with postmark, email or fax date being the indicating factor.

Interested Choice participants need only write a letter of interest to the Superintendent and include:

  • Dated letter of interest Name/s of child or children
  • Child’s or children’s date of birth
  • Name of custodial parent or guardian
  • Complete address (residential and mailing)
  • Telephone number
  • Entry date you are requesting (Fall 2008, immediate, etc.)
  • Grade child will be entering
  • If elementary level, school/town you wish child to attend. Selection priority is given to siblings of Choice students already enrolled

Application and selection may be made throughout the year depending on availability of seats per grade.  Once the Quabbin Regional School Committee determines that the district will continue to host school choice students, and availability of seats per grade has been determined, the Superintendent will send an enrollment form and acceptance letter to the interested family.  Upon receipt of completed enrollment form, the Quabbin Regional School District will obtain the student’s current academic records from sending school district.  Once the student is accepted, the student will remain enrolled in the District until graduation.  there is no need to reapply, unless there are disciplinary issues.  Transportation is the responsibility of the Choice participant, however, you may call the Superintendent’s office to inquire about the possibility of available seating and/or Quabbin bus stops that may have room for choice participants.
