POSTPONED – Rural Schools Day on the Hill

January 30th, 2019 by Jessica Bennett

As you may know, the Quabbin Regional School District is a member of the Massachusetts Rural School Coalition.  This coalition was established a few years ago to advocate for school funding to address the unique challenges faced by rural school districts in our State.

The Coalition is planning a “Rural Schools Day on the Hill” at the Statehouse in Boston on February 7th to advocate for specific changes  to the school funding formula targeted to support rural districts.

Each rural school district is hoping to bring a coalition of school committee members, town officials, administrators, teachers and students to this event to show strong support for this cause.

We plan to travel to Boston on the commuter train out of Worcester.   Walter Nutter, school committee member from Oakham is working to try to arrange for free transportation for all participants (Many thanks Walter!).  We will leave Worcester at 8:50 am and arrive at South Station at 10:24 am.  We’re returning on the 1:55 p.m. train arriving in Worcester at 3:25 pm.  PLEASE PLAN TO ARRIVE 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO TRAIN DEPARTURE.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Jessica Bennett by email (jbennett@qrsd.org) by Monday, February 4th.

Thank you for supporting this important event.
